Have the perfect picture, one you would love to create using colorwork? Go to KnitPro which is a great little web app that allows you to upload photos and superimpose a grid on them. Don’t be confused by the name, this site also has a crochet/cross stitch/needlepoint section.
I love to use this site to plan out a colorwork. I get to see some of the possible results without hours of work.

That’s a very cool tool.
I just wanted to comment somewhere else (for the contest, you know!) that I think your blog is perfect. I wouldn’t change much. I like clean and simple looking blogs without a lot of clutter. Your banner is perfect and you don’t have a bunch of gunk clogging up the sidebar. The only thing I’d add is a place for thumbnails of your patterns on the sidebar – they’d be easy to find that way!
